Family Night Hosted by Big Sioux Composite Squadron

May 26, 2021

Family members of Big Sioux Composite Squadron’s cadets learned about Civil Air Patrol (CAP)’s cadet program at a “Family Night” hosted by the squadron on Thursday, May 20th, 2021, held at the Brookings Airport. Attendees learned about the cadet program through indoor and outdoor activities.

Big Sioux’s cadets performed drill in front of attending family members and battled willing senior members in a “drill-down”. Capt. Tyler Gross, Big Sioux’s commander, was the last remaining member in the competition, winning the event - congratulations Capt. Gross! Cadets and their families watched a short presentation about CAP’s cadet program provided by 2nd Lt. Rudy Trias, and Capt. Gross and Capt. Mimi Klosterman and presented a short informational session about the upcoming Joint Dakota Encampment. At the end of the night, cadets and attending family members were able to look inside the CAP plane as it was parked next to the Brookings Airport specifically for the event.
